Inttranet Linguists of the Year Award for 2009

The members of the Inttranet™, the global network of professional interpreters and translators, have nominated International Medical Interpreters Association as their "Linguist of the Year" for 2009. The honorary Inttranet Linguists of the Year Awards recognise the struggle - and sometimes the personal sacrifice - of linguists both alive and dead who have been the focus for media attention during the past year, and have increased public awareness of the importance of linguists and languages as a result.

Inttranews, a daily newsletter for interpreters and translators, is read each month by some 50,000 linguists in more than 120 countries, and is syndicated by more than 60 interpreters' and translators' associations, institutions and universities.
