Selection criteria

Inttranet selection criteria are designed to ensure the quality of the services provided by the professional interpreters and translators who are its members.

Applicants must:

1. be professional interpreters and/or translators;
2. have the appropriate academic qualifications or the equivalent professional experience;
3. have at least three years' experience as a professional interpreter and/or translator;
4. provide the appropriate professional references;
5. possess standard equipment in terms of word processing and telecommunications resources: computer, word processing software and requisite fonts for their mother tongue, modem, etc.
6. preferably be approved by a national or international interpreter and/or translator organisation.

In addition, applicants are requested to provide their Regional Administrator with the following documents by fax:

• their standard curriculum vitae
• a letter of recommendation from a professional colleague.

To request admission to the Inttranet, simply fill in the
Application Form.
The form is then submitted for evaluation by the appropriate Regional Administrators and to the Webmaster for control. Regional Administrators are selected on the basis of the criteria indicated above and appointed for each language and country in the world.

Exclusion criteria
Applicants are automatically excluded:
• if any statements in the information requested to evaluate their application are false.

Any member may be excluded:

• for committing serious infringements in professional conduct (breach of confidentiality, non-performance of the agreed service, unjustified breach of contract, acceptance of services for which the member is not qualified, sub-contracting to non-qualified persons etc.),

• for not complying with Inttranet quality criteria and/or the ethical standards of the profession.
Further to three complaints by three different customers concerning the quality of the services provided by a member of the Inttranet, an enquiry is instigated by the Regional Administrator: in the event of confirmation of serious professional misconduct, or repeated professional errors, the interpreter or translator is liable to exclusion from the network and to permanent withdrawal of their identification file from the Inttranet database.
